Tuxedo Cream Dessert


Now there is a bit of creamy deliciousness, right there.  This dessert is light and rich at the same time.  It is simple, but it looks and tastes amazing.  You will amaze your friends and family with this!  It is the perfect dessert on a warm summer's evening.

Tuxedo Cream Dessert
Serves 6-8


Chocolate Layer:

1 3/4 tsp. unflavored gelatin
2 Tbs. cold water
1 1/2 cups heavy cream, divided
3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips


Vanilla Layer:

1 3/4 tsp. unflavored gelatin
2 Tbs. cold water
1 2/3 cup heavy whipping cream, divided
1/4 cup sugar
2 Tsp. vanilla extract


Strawberry Sauce:

2 cups sliced fresh strawberries
2-3 Tbs. sugar

In a small bowl, sprinkle the gelatin over cold water; let stand for 1 minute.  In a small sauce pan, bring 1 cup of cream to a simmer.  Stir 1/2 cup of the warm cream into the gelatin until the gelatin is completely dissolved. Stir chips into the remaining warm cream until melted.  Stir in the gelatin mixture and remaining cream.

Transfer to an 8 x 4 inch loaf pan coated with non stick spray.  Cover and refrigerate 30 minutes or until firm.

For the vanilla layer, in a small bowl, sprinkle gelatin over cold water; let stand for 1 minute.  In a small saucepan, bring 1 cup cream and sugar to a simmer.  Stir in the gelatin mixture until gelatin is completely dissolved.  Stir in vanilla and remaining cream.  Carefully spoon over the chocolate layer.  Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or until firm.

For the sauce, in a blender, puree the strawberries and sugar.  Transfer to a bowl, cover and refrigerate until serving.

Just before serving, unmold the dessert and cut into slices.  Serve with the strawberry sauce.
